Privacy policy
1. Data controller
Your data is handled by the operator of Camiouna, an independent service operated from Algeria. For any question about your data: privacy@camiouna.com.
This Policy explains what data Camiouna processes, why, who it is shared with and how long it is kept. It is given for information and does not need to be accepted.
2. Data processed
- Account: phone number, public name, password (kept in protected form by the sign-in service), language, profile photo, date of last activity and sign-in history.
- Verification: photos of the documents sent (national identity card, driving licence, vehicle registration, insurance, criminal-record certificate and similar documents), review status, reason for a refusal, legal name and expiry date recorded by the operator.
- Vehicle: make, model, category, plate and photos.
- Requests: places (exact addresses and coordinates), description, photos, date, transport details and a map image of the route.
- Offers: price, note, vehicle and the phone's position when the offer was sent.
- Bookings: what was agreed (price, places, date, vehicle, each side's name and phone), the steps and their times, the Transporter's latest position and the reason for a cancellation.
- Ratings, reports, fee payments by Transporters (amount, proof) and acceptances of legal documents (version, language, text fingerprint, app version, platform, date).
- A Transporter's activity zone and saved trips, used for job alerts.
- Notifications: the phone's notification identifier, a device identifier and the notifications sent.
The app contains no audience measurement, advertising or crash-tracking tool. Camiouna does not keep a history of your movements: it keeps the position attached to an offer and only the latest position received during a booking.
3. Why we use it
We use this data to:
- create and secure your account;
- run requests, offers, bookings and notifications;
- let the Requester and the Transporter reach each other and carry out their agreement;
- review verification documents;
- calculate and follow up Transporters' fees;
- prevent fraud and abuse, handle reports and enforce the General terms of use;
- keep proof of agreements and acceptances and meet our legal obligations.
Camiouna does not sell your data and does not use it for advertising.
4. What other users see
- Before an offer is accepted, signed-in Transporters see the neighbourhood of a request's places, and visitors who are not signed in only the city. They also see the request's description and photos.
- On a request, the Transporter sees the Requester's record on Camiouna, including whether their phone and identity are verified, date joined, completed bookings, cancellations in the last 12 months and average rating. Never their name or number before a booking.
- On an offer, the Requester sees the Transporter's public name and photo, verification status, ratings, completed jobs, reputation level and reliability rate.
- Once an offer is accepted, the Requester and the Transporter receive each other's name and phone number, the exact address and the vehicle details.
- Rating comments are visible only to the two sides of the booking.
5. Location
- For a request, the app may use your phone's position to choose a place; you can also choose it on the map or search for an address.
- When a Transporter sends an offer, the phone's position at that moment is recorded with the offer.
- During a booking, from when the Transporter marks that they are on the way to the loading place until the transport ends, the Transporter's position is sent to the Requester: when the app opens and regularly on the booking screen and, if the Transporter has allowed location "all the time", in the background with a permanent notification. Background updates are sent about twenty times per leg. The Requester can ask for an updated position, at most every 30 minutes, and is told when the Transporter approaches the loading place and then the destination.
- Only the latest position is kept in the booking, with an approximate place name. No trip history is recorded.
The Transporter can refuse background location in their phone's settings; their position is then sent only while the app is open.
6. Service providers
Camiouna uses providers that receive only what they need:
- Supabase (European Union, Ireland): database, sign-in, sending SMS codes and live updates;
- Vercel (European Union, Ireland): hosting of the app's server;
- Cloudflare R2 (Western Europe): private storage of photos; identity documents and payment proofs are kept apart, in a space restricted to the European Union;
- SMS Gate, with TextBee as a fallback: sending sign-in codes by SMS from a Camiouna phone (phone number and code);
- Sentry (European Union, Germany): error reports from the app and the server (technical description of the error, phone model and system, no name or number);
- Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivering notifications (the phone's identifier, the notification's title and text);
- Mapbox: address search, routes, place names and map images (addresses and coordinates);
- OpenAI: drafting a request from your text and, when this check is turned on, detecting insults or threats in texts (the text sent);
- Google Maps: navigation, opened by the Transporter in the Google Maps app on their phone (the destination).
Some of these providers process data outside Algeria, in particular in the European Union and the United States. Camiouna may also disclose data when a competent authority lawfully requires it.
7. Retention
- Your account data is kept as long as the account exists.
- When you delete your account, your public name, number and photo are removed and signing in to that account becomes impossible. Booking, request, rating and fee records are kept as records of the transactions, with the names and numbers recorded in the bookings.
- The photos of a national identity card are deleted as soon as a decision is made; the decision is kept.
- Notifications are kept 60 days in the app's inbox.
- Acceptances of legal documents are kept without limit, as proof.
- There is no automatic deletion yet of old requests, offers, bookings and positions. Periods will be set and this Policy will be updated.
8. Security
Photos and documents are stored privately and can only be opened through temporary links. Only the operator has access to the administration tool. As no online service is perfectly secure, protect your phone and your password and tell us about any suspicious access.
9. Your rights
Under Law No. 18-07 of 10 June 2018, as amended and supplemented, including by Law No. 25-11 of 24 July 2025, on the protection of natural persons in the processing of personal data, you can ask for access to your data, its correction, updating or erasure, and object to a processing on legitimate grounds.
In the app, you can download your data (profile, vehicle, requests, bookings, ratings, files) and delete your account. For any other request: privacy@camiouna.com. You can also apply to the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (ANPDP).
You can withdraw the location, camera, photos and notification permissions at any time in the phone's settings; the corresponding feature is then no longer available.
10. Changes
This Policy may be changed when the app or the law changes. Each version is dated and the version in force is always available in the app.
